BNSFKline suspends railfan activites....yet again
Posted by bnsfkline on Friday, December 23, 2005 10:02 AM
Yes, thats right, I have done it again, but this time its not for gas prices......

.....The engine on my car is no more.......My idiotic stepdad did not change the oil for over 25,000 miles........

.....So while railfanning, and chasing the train.....I blew the engine.......

......$4,763.67 to repair.....

.....Its not worth it!

N O T

Anyone driving a vehicle should have the common sense to check tire pressure, oil, lights, and a few other basic "things" before using the vehicle. This doesn't have to be done every time one uses a vehicle but at least once in 25,000 miles isn't too much to ask.

I changed the oil in the car the day after I got it......but the damge was already done....

.....My stepdad is currently in the Montgomery City Federal Penetentry. He's been charged with

"Intent to commit Murder"
"Assult in the 1st degree"
"Murder in the 1st degree"

Don't know what happened exactly, all I know is that he killed a 35 year old female for, and he tried to kill my moms best friend.

Hes facing 20 to life.

I'm guessing he's spent the car money on lawyers then?

Your car? But your stepdad didn't change the oil?

Did you recently buy the car from him?

Heh....this sounds like a blonde joke............

If you don't want to pay $20 at Jiffy Lube....it's one bolt to drain and one cap to fill, and a threaded filter to remove and replace. Check manual for amount of oil.

You should be able to get a used engine installed for a lot less than $4700. What kind of car is it?

Sounds like it's time to start a budget. i know you have a job. Hopefully you still have the means to get to work; consider this a learning experience!

Gee Jim, judging from the title of this topic, I thought you might have been standing in the middle of the tracks stopping trains, and preventing others from railfanning.[swg]

Your life seems to be filled with a cast of characters, right out of a soap opera.

Anybody stupid enough to get himself into the kind of trouble described above has barely enough brains to eat, sleep and "eliminate waste" let alone maintaining a piece of machinery. "WHAT YOU GONNA DO WHEN THEY COME FOR YOU, BAD BOYS, BAD BOYS".

I would torch that car, send it to the crusher and take whatever money from the scrap yard toward completly different transport. The blown engine is only one of this cars problems. You shuld put as much distance between you and this car/stepdad as you can.

Since this is the Xmas season & people are supposed to be in a more giving mood to others less fortunate like you so the question arises did you start this thread to solicit donations from the group[?]

The railroads offer perfect examples of how a piece of machinery can last virtually forever given proper maintenance...how else could they have locomotives that have literally over a million miles on them (and sometimes way over a million) and were built in the 1950's. Take care of them and they will take care of you is "right on".
