Yes, there are. I can't speak for NdeM, but I do know there's at least one leasing company operating one, and Pickens Railway, a shortline in SC, run 4 or 5. They bought them from CSX.

Go to Railpictures and search "u18b".

A lantern.

(Though cabooses have had a couple hundred different nicknames, and some of these may have come fairly close to a cage of some sort.)

What type of locomotive was known as the Colorado type?

1. 2-10-4
2. 2-10-2
3. 4-10-2
4. 2-8-8-2
2-10-4 Also called a 'Texas'. Built by Baldwin in 1927-29 these were the most powerful locomotives of the Chicago Burlington & Quincy, sadly all 18 were scrapped in 1961.

I have heard names for the other three locomotive types listed, and, although some wheel arrangements have more than one name, I don't think I've heard even one for a 2-10-2. So that's my guess, too.

Well ...

2-10-4 is Texas
2-10-2 has been Santa Fe as long as I can remember
4-10-2 I've seen called a Southern Pacific type

Leaving 2-8-8-2 by default...

The 2-8-8-2,H-7 class on the C & O was called a Chesapeake,
and when the C & O sold some to the U.P., I believe the U.P.
called them Cheyennes.

I think 2-8-8-2s were Yellowstones on the NP.

Kicking myself for forgetting that a 2-10-2 was a Santa Fe--but that doesn't necessarily rule out Colorado!

I sincerely hope it hasn't had its last run yet.

Do you mean its most recent run?

Of course, she will be around for a lot longer. She is even haveing her crankpins replaced this year to keep her in good running condition.

She flew a pirate flag on her most recent run.

On the old "Trivia wiz" games they used to have in bars,if you didn't know the answer, it was best to pick #2. So....I'll guess the answer is 20.[:p]
