BNSF Colors Forcefully Noticed By Outsiders

Yes!!!! The Forest Green, Pumpkin Orange, and the gold and silver is just stands out to much. I think it would look a lot better if BNSF changed the silver to black and made the gold striping smaller.

Your not the only one, BN's executive scheme is by far the best paint scheme BN had (in my opinion), those SD70MAC's in the paint really looked nice.

How did a simple little question like what paint scheme BNSF should use slam quickly into a rant by an disgruntled employee. Get over it! Everyone's job sucks — railroads are no different. If you want to set your own work rules, become self-employed. Now this is going to be in the minority, but I would like to see a return to Big Sky Blue. It seemed to look good on the EMD-leased SD60s.

Yes, and all the while you railroad guys wrestle over turf, your customers' freight sits there. You ought to get out of the business you so obviously hate, and get into a business were you really have to compete day to day for the customers' dollar. You learn to put aside a lot of the intra-company back-biting.

Good choice of action. Is it any wonder customers are moving more and more to truckers who are happy to take the business railroaders pi.. away trying to a make a meaningless point to who is supposedly a teammate (AKA fellow employee).

I agree with bringing back the silver, red, and yellow Super Chief Warbonnet!!! And while we're changing schemes, Southern Pacific (or whoever owns them now) should revive the old 50's era "Black Widow" paint scheme, far better than than the dirty grey they are now.

You can't change the orange, because it's part of the history of the railroad. It's called Omaha Orange and it's the color that Great Northern, a predacessor to BNSF used on their engines. The green comes from the Northern Pacific, and the design herolds come from SF. Thus the paint on the locomotive describes the history of the railroad.

Being from the east, it is a novelty to see any of these schemes, but it would not take me long to grow tired of the current scheme per the first post. OK to start it off first two things. The Warbonnet paint scheme is good, but what about going back to the Executive paint sceme BN started using?, - green and cream, m m m. And who can forget the Chinese Red? (the best paint scheme out of all of the ex BNSF roads)!!!! And second of all I don't think NS paint schemes are THAT bad, even more now that they have sarted using the Whiteface paint scheme. The thing that I really don't like is CSXs new paint scheme, you know as they call it the "Dark Future" colors. Their Bright Future paint scheme looked just fine, why can't they go back to that?

It's a hundred million times better than NS BLACK!! I would take a Pumpkin over an NS Crap-9 anyday!

Here are my favorites which I would like back:

1.) Daylight--BEST PAINT SCHEME OF ALL TIME. Looked great on almost all locomotives, and was positively beautiful.

2.) Canadian Pacific Grey/Maroon--Why oh why did they have to switch to Action Red? And the older CP scheme for steamers wasn't half bad either.

3.) Black Widow--It was for freight, but it could pass for a passenger scheme.

4.) Great Northern--That Orange scheme was truly Great!

5.) NYC Lightning Strike--Looked great, that's all I'm going to say.

6.) ACL Purple--WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL paint scheme.

7.) Alaska RR yellow and blue (sorry I don't know the name)--That was wonderful too.

And remember:

ALL PAINT SCHEMES LOOK BETTER ON AN ALCO PA THAN ON ANY OTHER DIESEL!!!!

Don't believe me? Check out Daylight on an E-7 and on a PA. And Warbonnet too. And Lightning Strike. And if CPR had had a PA, it would have looked better in maroon and grey than an F-7. But nothing at all looks good in Action Red....
