Mr Ed: What's a girl to do????

I applied for an engineer's job at BNSF - so they gave me a battery of tests:

Couldn't drag the wrench 10 feet - poo - couldn't even lift the darn thing.

Tried to get up the stairs, but walker wouldn't fit in that really narrow space -
(tail didn't either!) I would have made it if the conductor had kept his hands firmly in place, but he kept falling down laughing

Eyesight may not be up to par - had to climb ladder on each signal to see what color the lights were - (must be close to Xmas - lots of red and green - some blinkers, too.)

But, my, what interesting and rather large cars they have. They must be like sitting on one of those big earth movers - except they only go back and forth and never off the rails - well, all except that one - but we won't go there....

And the noise - what's with all the "whoop" "whoop". Sounds like a darn bird - maybe crane - "whoop whoop".....

I did pass the test of "hanging" off the boxcar - got walker caught in ladder and hung a long time until some nice young man came and pushed me off. I couldn't understand him too well, but sounded like he used a term of endearment! (kinda like my 7th husband!) (the departed one).

So Mr. Ed - would the PTRR maybe have a place for me? They would have to move something up here for me - I can't travel that far that often - but I am sure Congress would pass a law that would allow that. You could use the old AMTRAK tracks. They will just be getting dusty anyway!

Your # 1 fan.....

Besides, it would be nice to see some of the older forum members become a little more active again. So lets go folks! We now have Miss Mookie and Mr. Ed to address our railroad and advice questions to.[2c][2c][yeah][tup][#welcome]

I dunno about refering to the Unihead simply as "Mr Ed"

I've never seen him post "Wilber-r-r, get me some hay-y-y-y"

Guess this is a reference to me for daring to have my opinions regarding Amtrak. I've shared my viewpoint, and if you feel me a troll, Jim, I'll be happy to disappear.

All right, One down. Don't let the door hit you in the xxx on the way out.[;)]

Chris: I'm sitting way up in the nosebleed seats, and I can still see clearly that this isn't aimed at you. Please feel free to have opinions, that's what forums are for.[:)]

Some power on UP (EMD and GE) does have GPS Tracking capability. The precision of the equipment on determining location is plus or minus a football field length and is use to keep inventory and mechanical status. It is about as worthless or worse as a handheld GPS unit (Garmin, etc.) in terms of accuracy and precision ...http://www.railwayage.com/apr01/loco_health.html

Ed-can you help me out? I've seen the movie "Ground Hog Day", and I HATE it! Recently, I've been having reoccurring nightmares. In my dreams, I'm escaping from reality, by visiting a train forum. Every time I start to read about trains, the topic will somehow turn into a useless, ugly, political namecalling thread. What's a guy to do? How does one convince intelligent, thinking railfans to talk about trains? Now, I'll admit, I have definate opinions on some important things too, like dark beer vs. lite beer. I don't, however, feel that this is the place to argue to the death the same old topic with the same old name calling(usually started by those yay-hoo lite beer fans, I might add!) Please, in your infunite....infinute....innfinnette......well, anyway, do you have any *smart guy* advice?[;)]

Semi:obligitory disclaimer- Yes, I'm making light of the situation at hand. If you find yourself taking this too seriously, maybe you're taking this too seriously.[:)] Gotta go-have to ask Mookie about the nocturnal habits of felines who lay around like slugs all day![:P]

The term whippernappers usually is associated with another term. However I withheld that term on purpose.

We may not agree on our standing on Amtrak but I was not referring to you. However, I will not in the future answer the question of who or how many to which I was referring . I think (actually I know) that has been cover in other threads somewhat recently. Just ask the talking horse, err Mr. Ed. [;)] [:)] [:D]

Chris - you are too tall for troll-dom. Besides, I like your pictures! And I know Jim a little - that's not his style.

Actually, Houston Ed weighs in on most operations questions already. But if he's willing to host an "advice" column, bring it on!

Probably not! But he started it with Mookie and he and I have corresponded in the past. Besides, Most of the "old timers" have been noticeably quiet or absent from the forum recently. It's time to liven things up a bit.
