I thought you should post as someone’s conscience and say. "Railroads son, railroads.[;)] Maybe you should unleash a vicious canid, oops wrong movie.[:D]

I can't remember the name of the movie, but Jack Nicholson played a border patrolman. Is that it?

It was " A Few Good Men" Marines, at Guantanamo, Cuba, with one of Cruises hammiest cheesemaster performances yet. Am I the only one who notices that when Cruise acts, he flares his teeth like a Velociraptor about to take a bite of of a Stegasaurus? [8)]

Ahhh, one of the many great things about Texas...Whataburger. Had one last night. No jalepenos, thanks, just mustard, onions and pickles. I wonder why they've never franchised anywhere else...

Only if the gubment had built high speed rail from Texas to SoCal......or maybe if Whataburger got the food franchise for the Sunset Limited....[:p] Then I'd have a reason to ride Amtrak..

Ever tried a Culver's Butterburger, Mook? I'd rank them up there with an In And Out. I haven't tried a Whataburger, though, so can't compare there.

Correction Madame La Mook

We have In-N-Out, and we have Tommy's, home of the worlds greatest chili-burger. Whataburger is a Wanabe-burger in comparision. Believe me, I've had all three, the rankings would be
1. In-N-Out
2. Tommy's
3. Whataburger

Also good: Carls Jr...I would have ranked Fatburger at #3 but they've really dissappeared out here. White Castles little hockey pucks are pretty good too [:D]

Forgot to add, Baker's sells a pretty good imitation of the In-N-Out Double Double, no Bakers in the LA area, but quite a few of these to the east of us. FYI[;)]

Sorry Vic but I would say Tommy's is better than In and Out. But that might just be because I can't get Tommy's down here in SD (at least not that I know of, if someone knows different PLEASE let me know)[dinner]

Chad

I personally agree with you, but I ranked In-n-out over Tommy's mostly because the great whoping mass of a Tommyburgers bun, double beef patty, cheese and chili with pickles , onions and a huge beefsteak tomato, just Isn't for everyone. Combine that with the chili-chees fries, it can cripple the unprepared. OTOH, the In-n-Out Double Double is more for the purist, the golden pinacle of burgerdom wrapped in a paper holder, beside the french fries at In-n-Out are perhaps the best on Earth hands down!

Like Larry said I think I gained a few pounds just reading this thread. Vic, I don't know what part of LA your from but if your in the Valley there is an imitation Tomy's on Sepulveda just west of the Van Nuys airport that has the best fries ever, Way better than the original Tommy's fries.

How about Braum's? There aren't ever any of them in this part of Texas, but when you get up north a ways and into Oklahoma and Kansas you find them pretty regularly. They put out a good meal, cheap too.

For me it would have to be Bosselmans if you want a BIG burger. They have a 4 lb burger and the bun ways around 1-2 lbs. eat it in one hour you get a t-shirt don't and you go on the tried and died wall. I tried it and died. Not greasy but very filling.

Braum's isn't too bad. The current wife is a Sonic fan....for whatever reason....kind of fun to go through the Whataburger drive through and get lunch for me, then park at Sonic for her and the kids.

I like In-N-Out, but I can't seem to go wild over it. Best fries at a fast food place right now are Jack in the Box IMO. Carl's Jr has some good eatin' too.

I think Braum's is like Whataburger in that they won't franchise, or at least they wouldn't a while back. My brother tried to get in on it several years ago and they wouldn't even talk to him. From the way I understand, they raise cattle, milk em for the ice cream and everything. I think it's just a fun place to look forward to when you're on I-35 heading to see mom in Kansas.

Other favorites of mine in this part of Texas is 59 Diner in Houston (the one off of Kirby and I think Shepard), Two Sisters in Flatonia (they cater our pavilion party), and Dan's Hamburgers in Austin (several locations), a real old fashioned grease bomb place.
