At 5:40 a.m., the rain is sideways and the palm trees are bent over with their tops nearly parallel to the ground. A long, deep howl overhead as the eye moves on shore just south of me. Still have power, but lights blinking. No trucks, trains, cars (except one police car doing 5 mph) moving. Can't imagine what it's like south of me as the eye moves in.

Great.......Another hurricane......Just what the U.S wanted. Mother Nature sure is in the giving spirit this season.

brother and aunt have plywood on their windows.dont know if they left for shelters or not.hopefully it just blows over without too much damage.

I was watching the different news channels this morning.

They want to instill "evacuate" before it gets bad in the minds of the good citizens, so then these "weather" people stand out there at the height of the hurricane. Why would you want to leave if "they" can manage to stay and "weather" the storm - and outside, no less!

Guess to really be safe, you need a raincoat, a microphone and few brain cells....
