Depot in Grandville, MI
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, March 8, 2003 1:09 PM
I was raised near the old Chicagon and Northwestern Depot in Grandville, MI. Does anyone know where I can find pictures of this depot?

Thanks for your time.

...I found one by going to "Google" and typing in "Grandville, Mi. Depot Photo". That brings up a webpage and look at the first website listed....It has various towns in a list and click on Grandville. Perhaps if you check out some other sites on that webpage you may uncover more...Good luck.

Go to Michiganrailroads.com and click onto the history section. There are hundreds of photos of Michigan depots and towers listed on this site, under stations.

...Both above addresses take you to the exact same Depot photo.

Thank you both for the reply. I now have a copy of that photo on my machine.

If anyone else knows of another photo of that building I'd love to hear about it. I'm planning to build a full scale replica on my land.

Kevin, if you are talking about the depot in Grandville Mi. You would be dealing with the "Chicago and West Michigan Railroad", NOT the C&NW. I myself don't have any photos of this structure, but I know that the Grand Rapids public library has an extensive collection of photos in their local history section. They will gladly let you photocopy anything you desire. I have gained extensive material on local railroads there myself.
Go to the main library downtown.
Hope this helps you out.

Thanks, Todd. I'll do that. Shouldn't be a problem since I live just a few miles from there now. Yep, seems to me that would be he place.

Thanks again,
Kevin
