I would guess (since nobody else has volunteered) that Kenova would be your hot spot--main lines of CSX and NS cross (NS high above CSX) there.

But you don't go to West Virginia for hot spots. You go to soak up the scenery and atmosphere of the coal-hauling railroads, and remember how things used to be. As a C&O fan, I strongly recommend visiting Thurmond, Huntington, and Hinton; N&W and B&O fans will be able to give you their own suggestions.
