SP patched or unpatched AC4400CWs
Posted by BNSF4ever on Friday, September 30, 2005 3:06 PM
Has anyone on here seen any ex-Southern Pacific AC4400CWs in a UP consist either patched or unpatched? I'd like to model one but if they've all been repainted, I won't bother.

Well, close, but not exactly. Back in '03, I saw an unpatched SP AC4400CW in a CSX consist..

Recently a posting titled "Remaining CNW / DRGW / SP / SSW List 11-Sep-05" appeared on Trainorders.com that answers your question. Here is a link to the thread:

Caught this empty grain eastbound at Shed 10 on Union Pacifics' "Overland Route" September 16, look what's on the point! Oh, as luck would have it, the sun hide behind a cloud at the very minute it arrived. So here is an unpatched AC4400CW.

Its been a topic on another post. Tried to find it but couldn't. It would seem that UP needs the AC power too bad to take the SP units out of service long enough to patch them. Or is there another reason? Anybody.

What timing! I just got this shot this morning while watching the action west of Beverly yard in Cedar Rapids. This unit was pushing a westbound empty coal train. rrpicturearchives incorrectly identified it, which threw me off for a bit.

Found another shot of an UNpatched SP AC unit that I took back in March- kinda fuzzy (she was really moving, cloudy day).

Yep! Found out that using the text-only box doesn't work- copied into the text-and-graphics box, and it works just fine. Now I want to add a picture as well... hmmm.
