This versus Live Forum
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, September 9, 2005 11:25 PM
As a lurker and, lately, a somewhat degenerative signage poster, I have read quite a few posts on how this forum works and if some changes could be made- many requests about thread content and deletion.
It all boils down to money. Kalmbach could go to Live World with this forum and the benefits for us would be great. For one, if you click on a thread to read it and then back-out and click on another... if you go back to the previous (first) thread, you are bookmarked and will read where you left off. Same for all threads.
Another benefit- online moderators... in case thing get out of hand you don't have to wait for Bergie to be there to read it to have it locked or deleted.
Of course, your Trains subscription will increase by 150% to pay for it- and just think of all the colorful and humorous posts you would not see if this were in place!
Come to think of it- this forum, the way it is, isn't so bad!

Yeah, it works pretty well.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but if they share it, they should have the grace to accept the judgemental responses, and not get defensive or huffy. None of us is right every time we say something, and the mark of character (and intelligence, incidentally) is when you can understand that you have erred, and ACKNOWLEDGE it. God knows I have had a couple of courses of eating my words, here and elsewhere.

I call it development.

Nope, I wouldn't have this forum any other way. I need to read, and to consider, contrary opinions. That is the only way I can continually reinforce my own..if I am sure they are correct...or to learn how I have been mistaken if others are correct.

Is it THAT hard to figure out?
Message board (what you are reading now) versus live forum- where you are bookmarked and there are moderators.
The difference between the two is $$$ Kalmbach would have to spend to make it happen.

There you go, there really isn't that much derogatory and foolish posting going on here and most of us seem to withstand it pretty well when there is. Sometimes, when you mess with a good thing, it doesn't always turn out the way you thought it would.

Sorry, not a member of any "live" forums. Belong to 6 set up like this one.
