If you are into railroads in Texas in the 1970s-80s check out this site. I found it today looking for something else and thought that it is awesome.

Some interesting pics. Kind of leads me to a question I've never really thought about. Where are the Rock Island fans in this forum? I always thought that the CRI&P had a pretty devout following, but its pretty rare that they come up in conversation around here.

Personally, they're one of the top 5 or 6 railroads I wish I had seen running (being a 1980 model means I didn't get to). I'm not sure what it is. Maybe the paint (I like all of their paint schemes). Maybe it was the fact that they were their own railroad...not really a granger, not a transcon, etc. Maybe its just the fact that they had a presence in the two states I call home (IL and CO).

So how about it? Where are the CRI&P fans? Any good stories to share about one of the railroads I never got to experience in person?
