What RR is this?

Please look into my website & click on the Arizona gallery & you will find a pix showing a 4 electric loco consist readying to pull a coal train.

I found this RR about 20 miles west of Katenya AZ on route 160. The tracks followed alongside route 160 for some miles before veering off to the NW while the road continued due west.

Where would the RR be delivering the cars to?

Does nyone know if this RR interchanges the loads to the UPRR or BNSF & at what city the interchange takes place? [:o)][:p][:)]

If Katenya is located in northwestern Arizona, this may be the Black Mesa & Lake Powell, which is a landlocked (no outside connections) operation for hauling coal between the mine and the power plant at Page AZ. The third unit is one of the original E60C's built for BM&LP around 1970. The units lettered for NdeM were built for NdeM for a proposed electrification which was never built and some were later sold to BM&LP. I don't know about the lead unit.
The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

Yes thanks Kayenta is actually maybe more NE then NW in Arizona. I made you a map of driving directions so you can pin point where it is

http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&rmm=1&2si=gaz&un=m&2gi=0&cl=EN&ct=NA&2n=San+Bernardino&2da=-1.000000&2rc=A5XAX&rsres=1&1ahXX=&1y=US&1a=&1c=kayenta&1s=az&1z=&2ahXX=&2y=US&2a=&2c=Needles&2s=CA&2z=

If it is landlocked do you know how the electric engines got there? [:o)][:p][:)]

As you can see from my photo there are no fences as the author of the article mentioned. Either they were taken down or do not exist in the area along route 160 for sure. As for the cattle guards I did not see them either. [:o)][:p][:)]

He's at the coal mine end of the Black Mesa & Lake Powell RR (Navajo RR). The loop track will soon be pushed under US-160 to the east to catch up with the surface coal mine which is expanding eastward which is making the existing conveyor belt obsolete. Coal from here "feeds the dragons" at the other end of the line where the power plant is. Watched two Amtrak E-60's shipped to Page,AZ from Bernallilo NM in the late '80s. There is still at least one Alco C-425 (ex-MK)on the property for when the catenary fails.

According to the information that I have seen, the locomotives were trucked from Bernalillo, near ABQ. It's a long trip but there are no overhead heigth restrictions along that route (and darned few power lines).

Yes the empty hoppers were being pulled under the chute by the locos for loading I guess. I did not see any new construction or heavy machinery that would be used to build a underpass for the tracks when I went by. I also did not see the diesel or diesels only the electric's. Thanks for the info on how the electric's arrived way out there in Arizona. [:o)][:p][:)]
