'Chicken' youth lucky to be alive

This was on last nights news;
http://www.itv.com/news/britain_1900258.html

There is CCTV footage of this tosser (UK slang meaning person who does very fooli***hings) playing chicken with a Virgin Voyager. I've been googling all morning trying to find it but as yet have had no luck. I'll keep tryying though.

It's sad to see that this stunt is not unique to the United States. At the very least, it may be less frequent in the UK due to the use of floor-level platforms at stations and the relative rarity of level crossings.
The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

In my wildest days as a teenager I NEVER would have played chicken with a train, not on foot, not in a car.

True, neither would I though I have seen idiots :

I was in Orlando, Florida at a location at night and I saw 2 idiots playing on the track on their way to their car. The driver of the car was using the rail as a balance bar, and the other guy was simply walking on the tracks. I need not tell you what i wanted to say but didn't.
"There is nothing in life that compares with running a locomotive at 80-plus mph with the windows open, the traction motors screaming, the air horns fighting the rush of incoming air to make any sound at all, automobiles on adjacent highways trying and failing to catch up with you, and the unmistakable presence of raw power. You ride with fear in the pit of your stomach knowing you do not really have control of this beast." - D.C. Battle [Trains 10/2002 issue, p74.]

I guess the youth ought to be jailed in a fine penitentiary . . .

It'sa shame all he got was a 40 pound fine and 6 months probation. Of course, if he HADN'T gotten out of the way in time, he'd have a life sentence and the Driver (I believe that' what the British call them) would be condmned to remember that for the rest of his life.
