"MurphyHP" - Railroad WiFi?

Another forum I belong to (stormtrack.org) has several members that have observed a wireless computer network called "MurphyHP" while they've been out in rural areas storm chasing. Nobody can find any information on this network, but it has been hypothesized that is used by railroads for communications of some sort.
Does anyone here know if railroads use a modified form of WiFi in rural areas for any purpose?
