Some damage to the lead engine, but it looks like everything stayed on the track. As bad as this situation looks, it really could have been a lot worse. That must have been some kind of impact... not much left of the garbage truck. Any injuries t o the engineer or conductor?

And one of the other reasons for people posting links instead of photos is so they can rack up views on the photo sites- I know a certain younger railfan here that only seems to post advertisements to his photos as topics....but I'm not going to say any names[:-^]

No, I don't think that is correct. You get the target hit weather it is loaded from a click opening a new window, or loaded directly on the thread.

Please post links to save bandwidth for our dialup friends.

Wow!!!

Too bad for the driver of the truck.

It always pays to look both ways before crossing a railroad track in the country.

Hello Topeka Shops? Got one for ya.

Engine 4082 tangled with a truck at a crossing.

Yeah,Yeah.....Structurally we are OK, but the front catwalk, steps and handrails are mangled and will need to be replaced.

And, oh by the way, sorry about the smell....It was a garbage truck![:D]

God bless the soul of the truck driver.

Also I do not imbed the pics so that way the people on dialup do not have to wait everytime they open the thread for the pics to load. Kinda like I only post my sig one time on each page to save bandwidth. (hint hint)

Onesecond - As someone who codes HTML for a hobby, I have a pretty good grasp on the forum code. But, as selector pointed out, not everyone has that kind of experience, or even interest. For some folks, just typing in what they want to say and hitting the submit button is as technical as they want to get, until they decide they have a photo they want to share, or something like that. You don't usually find someone who just can't get it and goes on and on about it. On the contrary, their posts start to show some color, etc.

As for the end result of that accident, it looks like our "Adopt-a-Highway" stretch of road sometimes seemed, although it was never that bad. Too bad about the driver - I know he'll be missed. But the train generally wins.

Onesecond, the process is daunting and confusing to many people, especially those new to the technology in the first place. Also, there is a wide range of literacy on these forums, so the instructions are challenging to some. Once a person masters the technique, it becomes easy, as it is for you and me. For others, it is like reading the Windows XP manual....(shudder).

I have explained the process several times to people on several forums, because I consider it part of my 'citizenship' here. I will admit, though, that it is getting old. [xx(]

Hmmm, looks like a trashy situation.

No offense intended--just a comment on what I was looking at.

Getting hit by a Z train isn't a good thing in particular (UPS trailers). Depending on where it was, it could have been a 70 mph smash.
