Train crash special on Real TV...

Did anyone out there see the train crash special the other night on Real TV. I caught the tail end of it, and saw a guy and his wife or girl friend unknowingly walk out in front of a speeding passenger train-which of course they had the good taste to cut. They did a run back through that showed trains hitting trucks that were stalled on the tracks and so forth.
Anyone know when they might air this show again ?...

If this is what I think it is, I have the full clip on video. It shows a an E-8 type covered wagon parked, lights are flashing with the sound of the horn of another train coming when the guy and his daughter, run across trying to cross in front of the parked train, they are looking away from the parked train not realizing the train is going to pass the parked one, the father sees it at the last second, his daughter never looked the other way and never saw what hit her. She gets slammed against the engine and literally blown across the tracks right into the camera stand catching it all, very disturbing and sad. If they had waited, or looked both ways carefully, or hadnt run across trying to save a few minutes, she would likely be alive today, but alas it was not to be. the father must have gone thru Hell in the aftermath, seeing his daughter get killed right before his eyes. its a very powerfull piece of film, I'll never screw around at a crossing after seeing that!

Yep. That's the one. I'm so sorry the girl got hit and killed. I'm glad they cut it and I didn't see that part. I can't understand why they didn't look to see if there was anything coming.

probably because the first train was already there stopped, they assumed because of this that the other train would be coming from the opposite direction, it would never occur to a lay person that it might be stopped so another train could pass it.

There was NOTHING "cool" about it...

This starting to be urban legend video. When I saw the exact same video about 10-15 years ago the story was a woman who had just come out of the county court house (behind the camera and to the left) with her lawyer. He saw the train and hesitated, she kept walking and was hit.

That’s the same explanation we got, when this was shown during our training...
Either way, it is still a shocking video...you know what’s going to happen, because from the point of view of the cameraman, you can hear the direction the other train is approaching from.

Next time you watch it, note the lady in the black dress and white sneakers...she walks up to the gates, which were down, looks, decides there isn’t enough time, turns around, and begins to walk back to the platform, while the couple walks right past her, and into the path of the train.
You can hear the warning bells from the platform, and the train horn...classic case of not paying a bit of attention to where you are or what you’re doing.

I was unfortunate enough to see a commercial once for "The worlds most extreme video" or something and they had that clip of the BN unit, not to mention several other disasters and such. Like Trainluver said, good thing they cut it out...

Darn it I missed that Real TV. episode. The one time they are showing railroad accidents I missed out. I nomally watch Maximum Exposure, Real TV, and Worlds Wildest Police videos. IT seems to me that when the railroad accidents are on, I always miss it.

Actually, that isn't Naperville--it's the Fairview Avenue station in Downers Grove. I remember the first time I saw that video--when I saw the location (very familiar to me from bike trips past it) I just cringed. And yes, I can vouch for at least hearing the story that the man accompanying the woman was her lawyer. Guess her divorce was finalized a little early. Not to make light of it--I definitely had nightmares after seeing that footage.

Oh, by the way, forget about the courthouse part--the county courthouse is in Wheaton, not on the BNSF line.
