Haley Tower Robbed Again
Posted by robscaboose on Sunday, June 12, 2005 11:20 PM
Last week theives broke on to our grounds again. This time they did it by removing the front gate. Terre Haute's finest didn't even notice.

No railroad artifacts were stolen, just a used cub cadet lawn tractor & $1,000.00++ worth of tools. With the age of our lawn tractor & our insurance deductible, we will get almost nothing. We have purchased a security system that will protect our stuff but it has significantly reduced our operating budget for the remainder of the year.

We were going to move (rescue from being turned into land fill material) a 100 yr old PRR wooden caboose to our grounds & restore it this year. That project will not happen, and the caboose may be lost forever, if we don't get an extension on when it will be CRUSHED & SENT TO the LANDFILL.

So if you have a couple of extra $$$ in your pocket, please go to our website at haleytower.org & become a member to help us out.

Thank you

Rob Doyle

I don't mean this to sound arrogant or anything like that; just to educate. But: people are robbed, property is burglarized.

I hope you get your stuff back. It always amazed me when I was an Indy prosecutor that Terre Haute had considerably more crime than Indy despite it being so much smaller.
