An 0-4-2 Dummy Locomotive named "Gem" was running on the Mahanoy Division of the Philadelphia & Reading Railroad about 35 miles northwest of Reading, Pa., near Mahanoy Cityin November 1878.
It exploded killing the engineer, fireman, and a superintendent who was riding at the time.
Does anybody have the exact date and the names of these unfortunate men or any other details?
