Railroad Daze
Posted by Chris30 on Friday, May 20, 2005 10:35 AM
The Village of Franklin Park Illinois will be having its annual Railroad Daze Festival tonight and tomorrow (5/20 & 5/21).

Chicago area railroads volunteer to send equipment that is on display and open to the public to tour the equipment. Your on your own and you can spend as much time as you like in each piece of equipment. Equipment on display/open to the public in recent years has included a brand new UP SD70, an older IHB SD40, Metra engine and cab car, a Wisconsin Central private car and other various equipment. Also, open to the public is the old B-12 tower that has been moved to a park in downtown Franklin Park. There is no mention on the Franklin Park website regarding what equipment will be on display this year.

The festival is held in downtown Franklin Park just west of the Metra station. For more information, please visit the Frank Park website. The link is included below.

I haven't been to Franklin Park in a while. Has work begun on the new bridge there yet?

(Can't get over there tomorrow, either; sorry to miss it again.)
