I really like the appearance of the latest generation of Amtrak diesel locomotives.
How is their service record?

I fell down the stairs this morning and fell up them on the way back. This is a painful sign that I haven't had enough coffee yet.

Heard you had hail down that way Friday night. That usually holds of til May and waits for the boys at the 500. That's okay, the first time I go to Phoenx since 14 years ago it rained. Go figure.

Anyone know if CN is either painting or ordering new covered hopper freightcars? Saw a nice fresh painted red CN covered hopper in NW Florida.
"There is nothing in life that compares with running a locomotive at 80-plus mph with the windows open, the traction motors screaming, the air horns fighting the rush of incoming air to make any sound at all, automobiles on adjacent highways trying and failing to catch up with you, and the unmistakable presence of raw power. You ride with fear in the pit of your stomach knowing you do not really have control of this beast." - D.C. Battle [Trains 10/2002 issue, p74.]

Had to relay 15 miles of track. Redo signals and switch machines as well as a 50 foot high, 150 foot long trestle.

Can you imagine how expensive that would have been if this was real? Geez Auran!

"Bueller, Bueller, Bueller"--in a very monotone way. One post closer, and a nice way to hack those off who have nothing better to do than complain about others posts. And as Johnny Fever said, "booger!"

They elected a new Pope today,Benedict XVI. his views are very similer to those of the late Pope John Paul II. I wish him well.
