Does someone know the price of brand new equipment ?

Hi you all,

Does someone know the price of brand new equipment (prototype)?:

A- 4 axle locomotive

B- 6 axle locomotive

C- A standard 50 feet boxcar

A 4 AXLE LOCO THE LAST ONES I KNOW THAT WERE BUILT WAS THE GP 60 AND THERE COST WAS 1.1 MILLION. HTE NEW SD70 MAC RAN ABOUT2.1 MILLION EACF NEW BOXCAR THAT ARE JUST PLAIN RUN 33000 DOLLARS

A heritage streetcar brand new costs about $800,000.

But a new light rail car runs about twice that.

Oh man, wouldn't it be fun to have your own steam or diesel engine, to drive along the train tracks. I sure would, I just don't know what type to get.

While it would certainly be fun running a full size loco (steam even more so), if I was able to buy and run something myself, I think I'd pick up an RDC, so I could haul my friends around in it and maybe turn it into a camper for long trips... Think of the possibilities![:D]

You need to get some new numbers for that plain old boxcar, closer to 70k nowadays

Used ones... 80% of the nations fleet is approaching 40 years old. After 40 years the car is condemned and not able to interchange. Consider your investments carefully.

FYI, Trinity Rail still makes 50' box cars.

Trinity Rail's box car product line includes a 50-foot, 6-inch, 286,000 pound gross rail load plate “F” car. The standard car is equipped with a 10-foot wide by 12-foot, 4-inch high single plug door, 15-inch end-of-car cushioning and nailable steel floor. Inside height of the car is 13-feet. A wide variety of options are available.
