Yeah, but the Sante Fe ran its trains a lot faster on the Transcon under ABS than the SP did with single track and CTC. Now, except for some gaps being plugged, the SF is double track and CTC.

I beg to differ. The SP along the Salton Sea and out to Yuma is just as fast as the SF. As the matter of fact, My timetable shows BNSFs highest freight speeds on the Needles sub is 70. The highest (freight) speed on the UP Indio-Yuma in now 75. I've paced/chased trains on both, and the UP is harder to keep up with (when they are not gridlocked)

H'mm you also have the Yuma & Gila subs timetables. I have paced trains on both & a WBer on the BNSF between Needles & Daggett beat out a UPRR by a few MPH between Yuma & Marana AZ. I could not catch the BNSF when I doing 80 until he slowed for a signal. I was able to pass the UPRR when I hit 78 MPH. I only wish I had a radar gun when I saw a EB bullet train going by to see what he was really doing. [:D][:o)][:p]
