A UP rail grinder ran into a BNSF Z train I'm pretty sure.

They sure did clean that mess up fast. I looked on the web cam at 7:00am CT and only a loader dumping debris into a dump truck and maintainers were there.

Caught it last night, apparently shortly after it happened. Looked kinda messy, but nothing major appeared to be off the track... Someone posted at the time that a grinder hit the stack.

Yes what did happen in Rochelle?? I was told that a red signal was ran by the oncomming train at the dimond and it collided with the rail grinder. Now I'm hearing that it was the rail grinder's falt??? I'm confused.

A couple of things regarding the cam at the Rochelle Diamond:
1) Any possibility of somehow posting the image when the grinder slammed into the stack? Or has that tape been confiscated as part of the investigation?
2) Has any thought been given to somehow shading out the sun when it comes in low at the end of the day? Just wondering.

I know when I came to work Friday night we had to park several empty coal drags bound for Wyoming due to that derailment. All I had heard was one train had "T-boned" another.

What with all the amounts of traffic at Rochelle diamonds I am shocked it has not happened sooner, or has it?

What happened in Rochelle?

Hmm..where to begin, the cows all came home and the people rejoiced. The McCoy's and Hatfeilds signed a peace treaty and all rejoiced, oh and the newly elected mayor was the previous mayors dog, all rejoiced as the firehydrants were going to be repainted.

I stopped by Rochelle this afternoon and for the most part things have been cleaned up. A few smaller pieces of "wreck trash" here and there and one big thing. The big thing is what is left of two or three containers and they are piled in a big pile between the railfan parkign lot and the UP main line. This big pile is a real mess and is "protected" with the use of police crime scene tape of some sort (you know, the yellow tape you see on Law & Order series. No other real evidence of the wreck other than what is mentioned above. Trains moving through diamonds really well today.
