UP Weber Canyon and East
Posted by johnbresnahan10 on Saturday, March 12, 2005 11:16 AM
Just a couple of days ago I took my first trip to Utah, and it involved a ride on I84 paralleling UP's Overland Route east of Ogden along the Weber River. Lot's of action! Unfortunately I was just a passenger and no stopping was in order. My question is this: it appeared from the arrangement of the signals that this was 2 main track ABS territory arranged for left-hand running, just like portions of the Santa Fe transcon were in Arizona. Was this just my imagination? Any insight would be sincerely appreciated.

The westward main crosses above the eastward at the west end of the eastward-track tunnel:

From what I could see as a lowly car passenger, you're going to have a good time. The trains seemed to be coming like streetcars - I saw 5 in 1/2 hour paralleling this main.
