Whats the deal with all these old posts?
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, February 7, 2005 8:37 AM
Been away for a few days, did I miss something as to why all these old posts from months past are being brought up? [:(!]

There is a good reason. Just have to be happy with that explanation.

Everyone post something new and they will drop back into the background.

'really' new ones are over about page 3 for the moment... as Mookie, notes, there is a good reason...

Actually, the old post have been brought up so they can be reviewed by the forum members. Someone leaked that Bergie is going to give a pop quiz later today. If you fail, it will go on your PERMANENT RECORD.

Pop quiz? Like in soda pop? Cool!

Really, though - [#ditto] - like they said...

Its not. I just get fustrated when I come to forums and see topics that are a few months old dragged back up and putting all the new and more recent posts down the page. And in this case, the topics that were brought up, didnt have any new material added to them.[%-)] Why did the mods bring it back up than? Are the daily views down or something and they need to get the ratings up? Or is there just a lack of good topics on the board?

Guessing will get you nowhere. Trust me! It is no big deal and is just going to last a short time. Just think of it as spring cleaning - done in a foot of snow! Just keep posting as usual and we will get through this just like we did with other "problems".

Steve:

The posters are editing past posts in the threads. Anytime you edit a post the thread comes to the front just as if there was a new post. The moderators have nothing to do with what is going on. I'm with you it is a pain to keep up with the current threads when they are mixed throughout all of the edits.

Steve and Richard...

it is a nuisance. As one of the ones who did a good bit of editing last night, I recognise that. However, it was necessary.

Mook.....

At least we aren't having to deal with the all the other issues our "problems" have usually brought along....

Lots of posts on current topics (and checking the dates before you post to something) will move the old stuff way down the line...

I couldn't tell what was being removed. Evidently a long-time poster deleted all his own responses? Or the moderator removed them? One of the threads looked like a person was writing to himself, as all the in-between answers to questions and comments were gone.

Nothing better to talk about I guess. Some of my old threads I would have thought would have been ancient history and I have seen them lately.

Ever notice, when left alone, they tend to form into a group?
Why do they seek out the light?

Or is it just random bits of code?

That's funny. No, our ratings aren't down and I had nothing to do with all the oldies coming up again.

FYI,

Started a post about a certain columnist who deleted his posts, and my new post itself has been deleted by the moderator.

At first I was just curious, now I'm getting a bit ticked off.

Sorry I had to delete your topic... there was some misinformation with in (not from you, but from others). By tomorrow, this should all be in the past.

If anyone looks really closely, they can tell!

But I didn't guess, I'm one of the perpetrators, although I knew what was happening first.
