teenage graffiti idiot killed by CP train
Posted by morseman on Thursday, February 3, 2005 7:26 PM
In the Toronto Star today quite an article about three idiots kn Toronto spray painting freight cars last Tuesday. Apparently he didn't hear the train heading east at 40km an hour.. He suffered severe head injuries and died as he was being rushed to the hospital. There was a picture of the chain link fench that they ripped a hole in to get to the tracks. Two others were with the teen idiot at rthe time. I find it amazing that the police let t the other two iditor go and ditnt even charge them with trespassing

Also mentioned in the article that there were quite a few tins of paint at the scene so this activity has been going on for some time.

As you can see I use the term idiots loosely..

Well.....There goes to show just how STUPID the Railroads are today.
I can't believe that the RR's of today don't even take someone to jail for painting graffiti on Freight cars while tresspassing but oh hell send a Railfan to jail just for doing nothing.

That one is pretty bad. My sympathies, condelences to family.
I don't like to see grafitti on railcars. But it certainly costs less
than a life.

Just guessing, but perhaps the other two boys were let go because the police and/or the railroad figured that the loss of their comrade was punishment enough. These two guys are going to be thinking about this the rest of their lives.

Hopefully they won't return to trashing trains.

You know what? Perhaps the trains got tired of being sprayed and decided to get even.

I know that the sentence I just wrote will stir up some strong feelings. But these boys broke a fence designed to keep people OUT of dangerous areas in the railroad property and quite frankly his death should serve as a warning to those who may consider such acts of vandalism in the future.

Those kids were in the wrong, I don't feel sorry for them, just like I don't feel sorry for someone who drives drunk and kills themself.

Hey, we're talking teenagers here. It couldn't happen to them. (With apologies to the teens here on the forum)

Yep! Teens can do some incredibly stupid things! (I know I did sometimes). They went way beyond crossing the line.

Just an after thought, but it might have been good for the railroad to make a deal in which they wouldn't be arrested if they agreed to make a short video and internet presentation warning other kids and the public of the dangers in trespassing on railroad property and then feature the photo of their friend that was killed!

I'm sure that they could still do this as a public service. If I were those two boys' dad, I'd make them do it PRONTO after I disciplined (kick their tails) them!

As kids we all did stupid things, But I know that I'm not deaf. You can definitly hear and feel a train coming down the tracks. Maybe these other two kids shold have a no paying summer job of restoring the spray painted cars back to the way they were, weathered and all.
Spraypainters don't care what they destroy as long as there "gangs" name is on something
Some of the next generation is out of control, better start building more prisons.

Q. Why do gang members not have checking accounts?

A. Too hard writing checks with spray paint.

morseeman:

It is too bad graffiti heads will not likely see this forum topic.

I love YOUR terminology -- idiots! It is an apt description.

About the same as what we go through every time something comes up about some bozo getting hit running the gates.

Like the story about the guy who gets over for running a stop sign. "But officer, I slowed down!"
Officer gets out nightstick starts hitting driver over head with it. "Now, do you want me to stop, or just slow down?"

Some of these people need the nightstick. Period. Even then, they'll never learn.

It absolutely sickens me to see grafitti ruining a freight car. The vandals should
get a lengthy prison sentence,as they cause thousands of dollars damage.
We all end up paying for it,eventually. That idiot Paint Boy isn't missed by me.
Good riddance!!!!!!!!!!!!!![:(!]

This is a very depressing thread. A life is lost and it becomes the basis for jokes? I hope that none of you, who find this hilarious, are parents who someday have to face a similar situation. Kids do dumb things, sometimes they get hurt or worse. Yes, I know life is hard, etc. Does this type of comment make it any easier?

Another brain-dead idiot paid the ultimate price for trespassing on railroad property, and it served him right! And in answer to what BNSF railfan said, railroads are NOT stupid. It's impossible for any given class 1 railroad to monitor what is happening to the freight cars in their yards at ALL times. If I wanted to spray paint a car in our local BNSF yard which is just across the river and to the north of my house, I could do it tonight and get away with it!!!!

Several points to be made here. First is this is, in part, why railfans have so much trouble trying to watch trains because of trouble stirred up by twits like these kids. Second is that there is always someone to replace the person who replaced the last person who did the same thing. Third is Darwin strikes again. The gene pool has been thinned, at least temporarily. This, too will probably stir up some comments. It IS too bad that the families have to be put through something like this as does the train crew, but who is really at fault here? Certainly not the railroad.

Well for those who are anti graffiti I guess they can say justice prevailed in this instance. I hope he dated the car where he was & the date before he went to graffiti heaven & maybe one of us train fans will see it one day[:o)][:I]
