Winter Railroading over the Mountain in Norway
Posted by JayBee on Sunday, April 24, 2022 8:00 PM

A video on YouTube showing winter railroading in Norway. The roads are closed but the freight and passengers must get though. The driver whose YouTube persona is RailCowGirl is alone  on the Intermodal freight operating from Oslo to Bergen. Her portion is from Ål, the halfway point, to Bergen. About a four hour journey. After a rest period off the locomotive she will return to her home terminal. On this evening run there are Blizzard conditions on the mountain, visibility is poor to non-existent. The video is four hours long but you can jump to the chapter "Tunga to Finse" to view the worst part.

My problem with watching foreign in cab videos is trying to understand the signal indications and what their meanings are.  In many cases the video does not adequately display the color(s) that the signals may be displaying.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!

Norwegian signalling is way simpler than any US system
