evening
Ns sent a stack train after work.Went into town to do errands.Saw a few Csx trains including a power set in the yard.No switcher yet.Put an APB out on it with a freind here locally.Glad tomorrow is Friday.Need to go check on brother this weekend.Swamp has plenty of water so I can't mow yet.Guessers say a washout for Saturday.Might call the farmer down the road for the tractor and bale wagon when it dries out next week.Chores to do.

Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
At lunch Ns sent an eastbound with plenty of tractors. After work Ns sent a westbound Carl special and an eastbound stack train.Came home and took care of most of the swamp.Going to check on brother tomorrow.Still no switcher yet out west of town.Maybe it got lost on Csx.
afternoon
Went to check on brother. They have moved him to another wing of the nursing home.At least he can see the Ns trains for now.Saw the L 96 working at SDI.Went to Garrett.Found the center cab switcher. It was buried in the yard. Also saw q 353,q 192 and q 368. The ND&W also has a former Ns switcher as well.Wonder if it's going to stay on the west end or come to Defiance.Going to load up so pictures.
Waited in town for J 715 to come. Turns out they coudn't find a conductor so the Switcher will come tomorrow.Sunshine is helping dry out the swamp.Back to work tomorrow.
Ns was clear after work.Ran errands in town.No switcher yet out west.Tomorrow is meeting day in Deshler.Chores to do.
We're getting early summer weather today with highs in the mid-80's. Also the possiblity of thunderstorms this evening. Back to more seasonable tomorrow, though.
Juuuust about +60F as I write this (mid afternoon), but I hear rumors of weather coming through as well. As long as it's late spring weather, no complaints.

Ns was clear after work.Checked in town no switcher yet.Went to first Deshler meeting of the year.Csx was playing hurry up and wait on the tracks.Need to get cleaned up.
Thundersnow last night. Light rain this morning....and the red flag warnings remain.
Thunderbumpers here last evening - about 1/3 inch of rain, well short of what we need. The "storm total" after some rain late this morning is almost 1/2 inch. A few rumbles of thunder this AM as well. The radar shows more to come, as well.
Meanwhile, efforts to prevent flooding on Lake Ontario and the St Lawrence River have essentially backfired - both bodies are significantly below seasonal averages.
Ns was clear after work.Came home and mowed the swamp.Guessers say we are under a moderate drought here in Nw Ohio.Found out why no switcher yet.The switch to the facility needed some work done.It was done today and back up to specs. So maybe tomorrow Csx will bring it to Defiance.Friday afternoon we go and get Matts stuff from school.Freshman year done.Going to get cleaned up.
Half inch of rain since midnight - 0.82" "storm total." Judging by the radar, we're almost out of it for now, but the weekend is looking pretty iffy...
Cut the grass today ahead of the rain tomorrow.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
Significant rail this afternoon in Lawrence, KS. Perhaps an inch and it was accompanied by lightning and loud thunder. All quiet now.
Thunder on the plains is an experience in and of itself.
Ns was clear after work.Csx delivered the switcher today.Going to need a crane or ramps to get it off the flat car.Mother nature might be done with the rain now.Going to get Matts stuff from school tomorrow and bring it home.Good thing we got a bigger shed.Chores to do.
Standridge moved the flat car with the switcher closer to the road today.Monday a crane will come and take it off the flatcar.Matt has an exam early Monday but will check it out when he is done.Have his stuff from college back home.Have started the laundry machine.Put some items in the shed.Microwave needs cleaned out.Stopped on the way home to get some flowers. They are put up for tonight as well.Guessers say a frost is possible in the morning.Waiting for Stacey and Matt to bring home supper.
Windstorm blew through the neighborhood this afternoon.
Neighbor's tree couldn't stand the stress.
I've been hearing wind calls on the scanner all day - not a lot, but they are coming in. We've got wind advisories up in the area today and tonight.
Our overnight low is forecast at 31, and there were reports of snow in the western Adirondacks.
Isn't spring lovely? My tulips are up, but are refusing to open...
Sorry about duplicate seems IT screwed up again ?
CSX has done it again here. For the third time in 6 weeks CSX has parked a Hertzog ballast train for over a week on our siding. Is making access for several business and homeowners difficult. The train was not split and is blocking one siding. Lead loco is 797 and second 405. During first block CSX told local mayor train could not move due to broken part on loco. Sounded fishy.
I was asked about how to get it moved but passed as had no idea. Anyone with a suggestion ?

Local arborist on scene at 8 AM chipping it away.
Imagine that x10,000, and you get an idea what our area looked like last August...

Went and checked on brother.Think the room he is in now is his.At least he can watch Ns send trains by.Saw 2 eastbounds on Ns while I was there.Looked at Sdi in Butler. No Ns train there.L 96 had to wait for q 010 and q 172 to go east at St.Joe. One he passed Ns sent a grain train north as well. Csx was also busy dumping ballast from Defiance west.Going to enjoy the sunshine this afternoon.
Railroad rules classes out of the way for this year. Now all we need is to run trains. Nothing firm on that yet.
Off to a small train show tomorrow (Sunday). Probably won't find much of interest, and I'm not on the lookout for anything, so it'll mostly be support for that club and some camaraderie.
Went back to old hometown to take care of a couple things.Ns' nkp line had a grain train at Latty and a Carl special blocking US 127. On the way home they had some Dash-9 locos pulling a Herzog ballast train east.Ns has been getting rid on the dash 9's lately.Came home and took care of the yardwork.Going to go back out and enjoy the sunshine while we have it.Back to work tomorrow.
Train show today. Spent more on fire trucks than on model railroad stuff, although I did get a horse for that Amish buggy kit I've got to get busy and assemble...
I picked up a large (1:16, I think) diecast of a 1958 Seagrave pumper. Very nice model, even had boots and helmets to hang on the hangers. Looked it up on-line and found one with a $160 asking price. I paid $70, so...
I also got an older stamped metal kit. I may try making a new steering wheel and suction hose for it on my 3D printer.
Lots of rain across the central part of NY - I drove through some fairly heavy rain enroute down and back, but coming home was out of it long before I got home.
Ns had a track inspector on when I left work.Matt went into town and watched them lift the switcher off the flat car. They had to readjust the cables for the weight.Mother nature still sprinking outside.Chores to do.
Mother Nature was off her meds today - snowed hard for about two hours.
Ah, Springtime in the Rockies.....
