Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
Got shot #2 today. Some friends are reporting reactions to it - so far, nothing. That statement may come back to bite me...
Bitter cold due in for the next couple of nights - -20F and significant wind chills.
It'll be a good night to stay home...

Ns sent a westbound empty coal train with Bnsf power after work.Going to look for an article.Just thinking a government(French) has to pass a law so cows and chickens can do what they do in the country because of some Nimby that moved out of the city. They wouldn't last 5 minutes over in our area.
The shift in the force that the Kalmbach/ Trains mothership experienced in cheese-picker nation yesterday was me having a polite chat with 200+ surveyors and wanna-be mudchickens for 6+ hours. Fine time had by all.
Duncan R. Scottie is a little indignant right now. (He's wearing an inflatable blue donut in place of the veterinarian cone-of-shame.)
Joe: Wonder if the NIMBY's bought a place downwind of a cattle feed-lot, pig or chicken feeder production facility and does not understand the smell of Ag $$$$$ ?

Currently waiting for another 8+ inches to fall mostly over tonight and early tomorrow. Biggest problem looks like it's going to be where to put the stuff when the walks are cleared.
Pat and I are currently on a waiting list to be notified when we can try to set up an appointment to arm-wretle over the doses that might be available.Joe, how I wish I could see a good version of one of "my" trains. We're going to get out and run errands in an hour or so, hoping to beat the storm. We have to go to the post office (near the tracks), then the office supply store and grocery store. Maybe we should fill the top half of the gas tank, regardless of what will certainly be an inflated cost (we have gone 3.5 weeks without getting gas!). I just heard about eight to ten inches in tonight's storm.

Went to Deshler to take some things to the museum.Carl Csx had a train for you today Q 560.Plenty of stuff on there plus brand new tank cars.Went to come home and helped a guy out of gas.Was rewarded with some csx traffic eastbound and sunshine.Stacey said people at the store were preparing for "snowmageddon".Not planning on going anywhere until Monday morning.
Morning
Snow is here.About 4 inches so far.Cleaned up the driveway after the snowplow guy came by.Matt said he brushed off his car but they haven't plowed the student parking lots yet.Csx is busy looking for crews today.Might get some lake effect tonight from Lake Erie.
A rare Sunday home for me, truck is at the local Freightliner dealer for an electrical issue that stymied our shop in Green Bay for about a day Friday. Hoping to get it back Tuesday, but we shall see.........
Seeing that I'm home, got to play with our snowblower twice clearing the six to seven inches of snow that fell, we have piles over four feet tall in spots. Chili is also simmering away in the slow cooker, should be ready tonight..........

Received my first Pfizer Friday. Just by pure luck. Acquaintenance told me Wedensday about site having shots. Went to site but nothing. Accidently went back to site. It had one appointment available. Wife was doing a medical proceure so I had to take it. No adverse effects. Other flu shots have had more soreness than this one.
blue streak 1Received my first Pfizer Friday.
Got my second Moderna this past Thursday - no ill effects so far. Reactions have varied amongst my friends and acquaintances, but none have been serious.
I got mine as an EMS provider. Clinics are starting to open up for the general public now.
Ns was clear after work.Roads were a bit better this afternoon.Plenty of people decided to stay home today.Went into town and got new boot strings.Chores to do here.
Looking like our southern tier is going to see the worst of the storm. We're due for maybe 3" by Wednesday.
I've got plenty of gas for the snowblower, and there's a convenience store just down the street...

Watching my home area on Maryland traffic cameras - so far it looks like little more than a dusting.
Got $200 in Home Depot gift certificates for my retirement - they are earmarked for a snow blower - for when I can't Snowbird in Florida.

A fellow ham in NYC (Brooklyn) reported 8" Monday morning. I'm sure the bread and milk shelves are empty. Reports tonight say 18" so far in Central Park...
Anyone know why News wire has some posts that do not allow comments?. Monday's for example has none for the mask post.
Hope this prediction is not true about enough innoculations. From NY Times

Busy morning at home today, local sheriff deputy called in a fire at the local school bus company. Pictures seem to show damage confined to several buses, and school officials canceled classes for today...........

It was the fire alarm system that alerted the fire department for a fire at one of our local school district bus garages several years ago.
There wasn't a lot of damage - but there was a lot of smoke, so much so that all of the busses were condemned, leaving the district to rent buses until they could replace them with new.
Happy Groundhog day.Ns has a loaded powder river coal train in the siding.Wonder if the local wants to come and pick up the empty boxcar in our warehouse.Snowmelt today.Mother nature going to get nasty this weekend according to the guessers.Chores to do.
I see that Phil saw his shadow today. While it was snowing. The news clip I saw looked like most of the light was from the TV equipment. Maybe if they didn't have all the lights on the proceedings, Phil may not have seen his shadow.
I guess that's what we get for letting an oversized rodent who's afraid of his own shadow predict the weather.

Well, we had two possibilities - six more weeks of winter, or a month and a half until spring...

Six of one, half dozen of the other.
Based on the Chunks sleeping in, I'm going with a longer winter.
BTW right now Tehachapi is extremely foggy - driving will be very dangerous. Are there RR speed restrictions under these conditions?

Well ns sent a westbound stack train after work. The coal train is still in the siding. There is also an ns engine in front of the coal train.Don't know if the engine is broken down or the local stopped to pick up the car.(of course you still need to back up the coal train).Stopped by and picked up goodies for G+G's anniversary.Picked up some stuff for us too.Lady asked if we needed forks. Not sure what mother nature is sending next.stay tuned.
evening
Ns still had the coal train and other engine in the siding today.Went into town after work.Mother nature has started sending the snow.Do not need to go anywhere this weekend.Need to put the rest of the groceries away.
We're due for snow on Friday and Saturday. Hopefully things settle down Sunday, as I'd like to head to the daughter's house for the granddaughters birthday...
It's supposed to be a lake effect event - we'll see how much the line wanders north. Weatherguessers say 3-4" for us, a foot or more in "persistent squall areas."
Snow missed us again this morning (went south of us) and the mountains got hammered. Next chances are Saturday and Monday. The freaky weather in CO is causing all kinds of avalanche troubles.
We got a relatively light snow (2-3 inches) in our area last night and are now in for an extended cold snap: highs in the teens and overnight lows around zero.
