hand braking help

[SC-51]

I am looking to purchase a brake stick to set and release handbrakes without climbing on the cars. While watching the NS video on brake sticks it said do not use on the hand brakes quick release lever. I was wondering why would you not use the quick release lever. Thanks in advance.
