I'll add Gladys and the Pips, "Midnight Train to Georgia," and Rod Stewart's rendition of Tom Waite's "Down Town Train."  The Waites version is a classic for those who like him.

Its kind of hillarious this is the only train related song I can think of, although its not really about trains at all! Stick out tongue

Don't think anyone has mentioned Locomotion by Little Eva.  Other artists have covered the song, but Little Eva's version was the best.

Little Eva did it well, but how can you not like the version done by a band who's name was a take-off on the name of a real railroad?

I just like Little Eva's version better.  To each his own.

Oh, I hate to be a wet blanket, but if that's Paul Simon's Farewell Tour it's just as well he's packing it in.  "It's" not there anymore, time for him to quit and enjoy the fruits of his labors.

I mean, compare it to the second video from 1966 with Art Garfunkel when they were at the height of their powers.

It's a damn shame people get old, but that's life, and you can't stop it.

Well I suppose there comes a time when you should just stay at home and work on your dream pike. That's my plan.

Too bad politicians don't do this. They accumulate tens of millions but never shut up and get weirder and more extreme as they get older.

EHH was another one, a beautiful wife, a spectacular horse farm, but no, gotta drag your arse to work and raise hell.

Fella I work with is 2 years older than me, which is getting way up there and just bought a ginormous house on the lake and has zero intention of retiring, states ten more years minimum. On a good day he knows what day of the week it is, by which I mean he is a bit confused at all times. I don't get it.

Paul Simon should pack it in but how any times to we see multiple 'farewell tours' that never end.

I know what you mean about politicians Miningman.  During Mr. Trumps last "State Of The Union" address when the news cameras panned over both houses of Congress assembled I could have sworn I was looking at a nursing home gathering!  Geez, give it a rest and go home people!  Give someone else a shot!

I suppose it's the same up in Canada.

And maybe EHH had a death wish, and wanted to die with his boots on.  Who knows?

And thanks for that vintage Emmylou Harris, Euclid!  My goodness, wasn't she a hottie?

IIRC when a Canadian politician gets too old, they get appointed to the Senate...??

No one has mentioned Neil Young’s “Southern Pacific”! That’s a great train song, probably my all time favorite train song! If you haven’t heard it look here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jb72f122Yoc

Of course the greatest singer of train songs ever was Johnny Cash, and I see he has not been missed in this thread!

I see we’re reviving a two year old thread, but whatever, it’s a good topic!

Regards, Isaac

I don't think anyone's linked this one yet, from the 80's with a certain Scottish hottie who apparantly had no  problem getting a cab ride!

No suprise, if you looked as good as she did!  And they couldn't have made a better railfan video if they tried!  Check it out...

How did Woodstock get to be fifty years ago?

World War One is supposed to be fifty years ago!

Woodstock was last week!  Or so it seems...
