Let me tell you, polyester is something I never cared for at all. My attire of choice back in those days was flannel shirts, jeans, and boots. Unless it was warm weather, then it was jeans, polo shirts, and sneakers.
And it's true older men tend to stick to the fashions that were popular when they were young. Forty years on and I still do the jeans and flannel shirt thing.
I did like ABBA though. Loved "Take A Chance On Me."

RME CMStPnP Firelock76 THIS "Swedish Meatball" was pretty darn good! www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4kE7xURt4M ... if you ever shop at AKEA store they make Swedish Meatballs there and serve them to customers. You have this mixed up a bit. ASEA was involved with one kind of Swedish Meatball; IKEA quite a different one.

Thanks to Chris / CopCarSS for my avatar.
Miningman ..............but still there was something contrived about the whole thing. ..............
Has anyone seen Mamma Mia?

Mind-meld those meatballs!
Thanks Schlimm, that's a great blast from the past!
A lot better than the crap that's on the radio nowadays.
Jeez, don't I sound like a geezer...
By the way, I tried to link "Take A Chance On Me" from You Tube but didn't have any luck, it just wouldn't work. Maybe someone else can try.
I sure didn't have any problem with that video of the Swedes out-Prussianing the Prussians.
Maybe he's right - Akea is a fermented superfood nutitional supplent - and just maybe on a hot day in Chicago in January, you can create some very weird meatballs?
Oh my God I'm laughing so hard my eyes are flowing like Niagara Falls.
Now that is simply superb. Who knew? Post of the year!
Schlimm- Nice find ..what the heck is fermented superfood ...do I want to eat this stuff? I dunno. If the dog doesn't eat it then neither am I.
I was in an IKEA store only once. In Ottawa on the way to Quebec to pick up an old Citroen. The guys I was with insisted on stopping in IKEA because they had lunch for only one dollar. You had to walk through their maze to get to the lunch room. You can't just run in and out. You have to look at all the "Snoog Boogins" (picture umlauts over every other letter) or whatever the hell they sell that you never knew you needed until you saw it in the store. Finally found the exit after almost having a panic attack. I felt trapped. A lady asked me how I liked IKEA. I said, "Now I know why there's a high suicide rate in Sweden." And the meatballs? Meh.
That is the BEST arrangement of "On Top Of Spaghetti" I've ever heard!
God bless Little Richard!
I'm surprised it wasn't released as a single.
Miningman It was hard not to sing along or swing along to ABBA, I mean what's to dislike really, but still there was something contrived about the whole thing. They did one tune, very surreal, not like them at all, that I really liked but I'll be darned if I can remember what it was.

On seeing the name "ABBA", was anybody else's immediate thought a set of F units?

Actually I ws more in mind of a set of gleaming Alco PAs in the classic warbonnet paint scheme pulling the Super Chief at a high rate of speed. Damn, I would love to have seen that in real life.

CMStPnP The routing is controlled by China as they are marketing it. China has a Northern alternative via Russia that it avoided this time and it took the shortest route through Russia on this second route. China is building or hoping to build a third route that will traverses Iran and avoid transit through Russia entirely. Parts of it are in place. They are missing a link across Afghanistan but have already started on Afghans new rail network via Khzakistan. See map below. http://www.bruneleuropean.co.uk/china-railway-freight.html China will pick the route that serves it's National Interests and that might not be the route that is most advantageous to Russia.

Where woild the route go west from Iran? Would this route all be on standard guage and avoid guage changes like with Russia?
Wait a minute...that trailing A is no PA. ABB-fail.

We had a very long recent thread on four-unit PA consists, with numerous pictures of both ABBB and ABBA arrangements.
Midland Mike- there is a map earlier on in this thread showing the non Russia route.
RME- and a great thread it was...kept that one in my file.

The only link to a map I saw, was the link I quoted in my post, and it shows no westward connection from Iran. Can you point to the link to a different map?
Midland Mike- You are correct. I am in error. I saw this a while ago on another thread, possibly over the later part of winter. Perhaps a google search can help.
So sorry. I am travelling now and back in 3+ weeks or so. Been at it all day, need to settle in and chill. Will check in from time to time.
Existing rail network from an article published in 2017 about service between Europe and SE Asia:

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.
I don't have a leg to stand on.
