tree68 Deggesty Isn't 0424 UCT 4:24 after midnight? That would be 00:24 Atlantic Standard Time, or 00:24 EDT, which is based on the 60th meridian west.. Ah, yes - crossing 12 hour clocks and 24 hour clocks. I use 24 hour clocks a lot between ham radio and the fire service, so didn't notice that they meant 1624 UCT, which would be 1224 EDT.

tree68 Murphy Siding The Google main page refers to today as the summer solstice. Is it uncool to say the word summer now or what? The solstice is a specific point in time, in this case, that point when the sun "touches" the Tropic of Cancer (ie, is directly overhead at 23°26′13.3″ North). That occurred at 0424 UCT (Greenwich), or just after noon EDT. The day containing the summer solstice has the longest period of daylight of the year. But you knew that... Of course, it's not the sun that moves, but the fact that the earths rotational axis is tipped with relation to the sun. The season following the summer solstice is still known as summer and will continue until the vernal equinox...

Norm48327 Mookie, Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high but the latter does not apply in Michigan. We are surrounded by the Great Lakes and have enough inland lakes to challenge Minnesota. Plenty of those finned critters to go around but there are few of them I will eat. Just the thought of fish bones turns me off and most here have lots of them. Cod filets are my preference.

Murphy Siding Mookie Ah, summertime and the fishin' is easy (bass) and that is exactly where he is. He, I presume, is your driver? I didn't know he played the guitar. I think Paul McCartney played bass in some band. That seemed to work out for him in the long run.
