It is an immense compliation of Industrial New York City Railroading. manintained by Mr. Phillip M. Goldstein. Get a big cup of coffee, and settle in. Every visit seems to find new photos and information. Enjoy!
I grew up in Brooklyn and know the BEDT operations well. It was fun to take the bus across Brooklyn and watch the BEDT in operation. Back in th e1950's when I was growing up the BEDT was a very busy railroad.
One of those BEDT 0-6-0's survives today on the Strasburg Railroad. It's been rebuilt into "Thomas The Tank Engine" and it's an amazing transformation. Probably the only live steam "Thomas" here in the US.
On the Strasburg they call him "Thomas The BANK Engine" 'cause when they hold a "Day Out With Thomas" the crowds come and the money rolls in!
I also love that website... New York and its unique geography certainly made for a lot of interesting railroading, much of it now gone. A carfloat operation remains, but it used to be amazing the amount of trackage packed into Brooklyn.
