Actually, I think the greenies look better even a little faded than any of the ugh orange ones when they are just dirty. They fade and look like an orange in a bowl starting to go bad.

Tonight is even rarer than a blue moon - it is said to be a Strawberry Moon - full moon on the day of the Summer Soltice.

5-8A - trackside. Saw quite a few coal trains going all directions. A couple of freights mixed in.
Also saw a fox - besides the one sitting next to me driving Millie... I have heard that we have quite a few vixens in the railroad area - lots of places to hide babies and themselves. And food galore - all wild w/some garbage. Sushi from the creek, birds, mice, things I really don't want to think about....
Joe - saw my 2nd Grinnie Greenie this week. I thought they were gone forever, but not so. And lots and lots of ugh orange....

Well, at least you avoided the 101 shutdown. The detour on 154 by way of Solvang and such is probably kind of slow tonight. There appear to be only two other California fires working tonight and they are relatively small at this point, so maybe the necessary resources can be brought to bear on this one.
At least the Exon/Mobil facility is reporting no damage or problems, so maybe we won't have the usual 40 cent jump in pump prices that any little thing seems to cause.
We are witnessing a wildfire out here near the End of the Earth. Closer than I've ever been to one. They had the 101 closed down early this morning, but it has been open since. We saw some canyons that were providing smoke to the general haze, on our way to Santa Barbara. OK - Who hid the mountains? Northern New Mexico and Ft. Carson are on fire. Jet stream isn't moving much today, so all of Denver is in an inversion that is unusually gray these days. No rain due here for 7+ days and 90+ for most of that...Raining ashes already. The large glowing orb cannot be distinguished in the gray skies.

I haven't heard yet...how high are Lake (Michigan/Huron) levels this year, compared to last year, when there was practically no beach due west of our cottage? The high levels of last year made walking out on the piers (Grand Haven, South Haven, St. Joe, et. al.) risky a lot more often--waves could sweep over the top fairly easily.Our trip is progressing, though not as smoothly as we'd hoped. Credit card account was hacked, and they have to get us a new card. We've spent the past week staying with Dr. Linda and family.

I still wonder what the incidence rate is for people parked at a gate and a derailment within a few car lengths of the gate. We park even further back on private property (with permission) and it still makes me nervous.

Saw one report - blocked for 5 hours. Maybe, but this is a city street, so it makes me think they broke the train to let traffic thru. Again - don't let facts get in the way of an easy news source. And this is an ongoing problem with our "local" news. Always 3 versions: 2 tv and 1 paper. grrrr

We don't "need" rain, but at 100 degree days for all week - it won't be long. Barometer keeps going down - but figured out it is probably not because of rain coming, but because it is melting....
