I know it's Saturday.Spring starts tomorrow.As for today I rescued a great nephew from boredom,saw a couple trains on CSX,watched great niece bowl in a match and went to a benefit for a co-worker.Also recieved books from my nephew the author.Ns had a westbound in the siding at Archbold.The engineer said Elkhart didn't want his big train.Tomorrow is Mamma's birthday so I better get that right.(or else).

The official start of Spring will be welcomed with the pitter patter of Wintery Mix - been snowing since 3 PM - too warm to accumulate in the streets, however the ground is being lightly covered.

Our winter ends on a bright, if cold, note. There was snow that briefly stuck yesterday, but it didn't last long.
I heard NYC may be in for a bit of accumulation, depending on which weather model one looks at.
Two days of Outdoor Expo done - one to go, and someone else is covering it. Sunday is the FD chicken BBQ, and my attention will be focussed there.
Then I have to go to the outdoor expo and tear down our display...

Went to the Scotty Farm in Swink to visit (get my scottie-fix) today. One of those guys comes home with us in a month (in the meantime, the back of my hand got chomped -on by three teething pups)...Seven pups playing tug-o-war with a piece of rope is a riot to watch and listen to.
Puppy teeth = one of the sharpest substances known to man...

That being said, it was officially a mild winter for me, the snow thrower sat in the garage all winted.
Speaking of weather, fall ended here a couple of weeks ago. The last of the leaves fell off the trees--I think they were pushed off by the buds of the new leaves coming out. (Very mild winter.)
Spring got us, though. We're OK here, but about four weeks ago we had thirteen tornados and two waterspouts within a 100 mile radius, then last week, a bunch of floods. Maybe an earthquake next week?

Predicting 70 degrees tomorrow in central Iowa. Thunderstorms for Wednesday. Because of that, they are postponing the state Severe Weather drill scheduled for Wednesday until Thursday. Snow forcast beginning late Wednesday into Thursday with watches in place for northern Iowa.
I did go back to the extra board last week. Had to make a few refresher trips. Went from working every two plus days to working every day. Now I'm off for the Federal Requirement for 72 hours.

got home from a day trip.We didn't go too far but it was nice to get out of NW Ohio.We went to southern Ohio where CSX and NS are real close to each other.Stopped in Deshler on the way home but no trains.Got a few on our way home.ND&W requested permission across FC as they wanted to go to Woodburn.Laundry and things to do.Need to research a picture we saw too.

I am taking daughter Ginny and her two daughters, Claire (9) and Hannah (7) to Los Angeles during the public schools spring break. We left Salt Lake Sunday night, arrived in Emeryville Monday afternoon, and spent the night there. Tonight, we will be in Los Angeles,,and the women will go to Disneyland tomorrow--I will stay in Los Angeles and rest up before we start backThursday--which will have another overnight in Emeryville before we continue on home Friday morning.

That 21 or so miles of coast at Vandenberg AFB is some of the most pristene along the coast (not to mention most of the line along the channel). And you might catch sight of one or two of the space launch complexes, too, if it's light.
Northbound, you'll also pass Pedernales Point (Honda Point), where a number of USN destroyers went aground in 1923. That'll be just south of Surf.
Seventy degrees to blizzard in under 12 hours. Spring? Locusts? Nah, just another day in Colorado. Johnny coulda shut the door when he left town.
12 inches of wet blue snow and we apparently are still in this for 6-8 more hours.
Chilly and breezy here today. The snow stayed to the east of us, but we're under the threat for some tonight. Nothing major, though.
The county highway guys are busily digging up and old storm drain pipe so they can replace it. There were several issues. One was when the contractor put in the outfall pipe for my septic tank (as part of a community project). Seems bedrock is about 3 feet down. The drain pipe was laid right on the bedrock, and so was my septic outfall. You had to see it.
They aren't sure how they're going to deal with fixing it all up. Should be interesting.
And none of this is on my lot - it's all on the neighbor's. The only impact on me (besides the sewer pipe, which they did manage to break) was trimming a couple of my trees so the equipment could work.
Looks like I need to get more seed for the birds, too - winter's not quite over yet...
We're supposed to be getting rain here today, too...hasn't started just yet. And tomorrow afternoon, the rain will be joined by sleet, snow, and maybe other goodies.
Tonight we're taking our daughter out for dinner at Greek Islands, a popular local eatery where I have no idea what will be appetizing to me. Opaa! It's Ellen's birthday tomorrow, but their schedule is so tight that this was the best we could do. She has a dentist's appointment for a birthday present. Opooh!

Busy day on CSX.Mostly a Up kind of day but saw other interesting items.A loram train without it's middle,a chessie boxcar damaged by a forklift and a rusty "route rock" car.Brother liked what rolled by.Maintainers were busy checking crossings and fixing switch frogs.Rain on the way to NW Ohio.

Done the same as you a couple of times when they tried to put all the attendees on a diet "for our own good". Sister in law held Thanksgiving, no meat, she is a vegan, we left early, very early.
