Like some others have mentioned, pick a place/name/RR station/engine or something else that is easy to remember.

A couple of years ago on another railfan forum, someone was using a degrading screen name and he changed it (after being convinced by other posters)

This isn't grade school and I hate playing the role of the principal.

Again, sorry to call you guys on the carpet, but your actions gave me the opportunity.

Sorry Bergie. LC and I were just playing on a thread that was unrelated to trains in general and just thought we could run with it a little. We had done this before and it was a real crowd pleaser. Now we were just playing, but to most others probably looks like serious business ... that's understandable. I can't speak for LC, however, I'm a little rough around the edges, usually unshaven, and sometimes smell like diesel. Plus I play chess [:D]

Well if you don't want it, we can't do it, so I will abide to your wishes. If I don't speak to you again soon, have a happy and safe holiday. [:)]

Steer clear of "missouri" as a name! As someone posted before, pick a name, exclude the "baggage" associated with "Morbid Angel", and move on.

Your screen name doesn't have to be a "train" name.
"locomutt" isn't. Could mean "crazydog".
(although I like to think 'loco' is short for "locomotive")

Pick one that you like, and go on. Just don't use something like you
already have;some of us "have been there, done that;and unfortunately
have the t-shirt"

Being Crazy, keeps you from going "INSANE" !! "The light at the end of the tunnel, has been turned off due to budget cuts" NOT AFRAID A Vet., and PROUD OF IT!!

Well, let's see now, here we have a "person" who calls him/her self Morbid Angel, and who posts links to very sickening and distasteful photos on this forum, much to the dislike of the vast majority of us...enough to risk expulsion from the forums. Moving right along, he/she has a "discussion" with Bergie who gives him/her a second chance and he/she "appologizes" to all of us...ok, for a moment I bought it too...and then when chessking throws a little of the brown stuff back at him/her with a jab at the very idea that changing a name or handle will materially change things, he/she gets really hacked off and lashes out at chessking. Well, my take on this is that "Morbid Angel" is likely a very fitting name for this "person" and like the proverbial tiger, he/she is not likely to change stripes. New forum or not, we are very likely to hear the same olf "stuff" from him/her again in the future. I vote for banishment...anybody agree?

What's your favorite railroad?

Maybe you could change your name to the railroad of your choice such as Amtrak71 or Santa Fe3571, something like that.

It's always fun to read your replies and a riot to contest with you in a friendly sort of way. It kind of breaks the monotony on nights when posts are at a bare minimum :-)

Another knee slapper from good old "Don't give up your day job". [:p] You are likely to know less about chess than I am to know about railroads. The game itself is by far more complex.

Wow, all that and a day job too...you are really on the ball there Chessie...

Don't worry, I won't put you in check, mate...LOL...

You see you have to meld a name into the confines of something that makes sense and doesn't offend people, go with your likes and come up with something that rolls through the fneces and the yards of railroading.
Sterling1 . . . a name totally unrelated to railroads!!!
"There is nothing in life that compares with running a locomotive at 80-plus mph with the windows open, the traction motors screaming, the air horns fighting the rush of incoming air to make any sound at all, automobiles on adjacent highways trying and failing to catch up with you, and the unmistakable presence of raw power. You ride with fear in the pit of your stomach knowing you do not really have control of this beast." - D.C. Battle [Trains 10/2002 issue, p74.]

My screen name has absolutely nothing to do with railroads, it dates back to high school. For that matter, neither do names like Mookie, Cherokee Woman, zardoz, or edblysard (although Ed works for a railroad).

Like puckdropper says - pick something that reflects you and/or your interests (current handle notwithstanding). Since all I know of you is what I've read, I can't suggest anything specific.

I like "knuckle head" it's funny.

When picking a name, you should choose something that reflects you in some way. You could use a handle such as Zardoz or Mookie (I would have to use Blacky or Diamond ;-)). If it's railroad related, so be it. Maybe you could use a nickname for a section of track near you like "dispatcher's nightmare" or "The Loop" etc...

Heheh ..... cool off chum. What's in a name is not that important. Yours is not an obscentity, so why change it at all? What's most important is the content you put forth on the many topics here. Keep it clean, be courteous, polite, I'm one to preach here, and always give others the respect they deserve ... even if it's just a little. I'm outa here.
