The newest NS heritage unit SOU 3170 is very interesting. NS has tried to maintain as built as much as possible. A picture of the short hood might change some of these conclusions.
1. The paint job is true to as delivered.
2. The horns are at the front of the long hood as built
3. The "F" designation is at the end of the long hood as built.
4. NS has added a permanent MU cable not as built.
5. There is no snow plow on the unit as built
6. Ditch lights have been added.
Anyone with other similarities or differences especially on the short hood ?
