Thanks, all! I may have a tale to tell after tomorrow. My baby's prospective in-laws are coming to visit from San Diego, and we're going to treat them to blustery weather in the 40s. Nonetheless, Rochelle is in the tentative plans. I'll personally check out that coaling tower in DeKalb.

Jim (Zardoz), I hope you have a good one today. And Larry, you'll never catch me! Have a great one!

How do you know you're getting older? Half your parts hurt, and the ones that don't hurt don't work. Happy Birthday, guys.

Thanks Mookie, Ed, Carl, and everyone.

I truly am touched that so many thought to extend their best wishes.

Thanks again.

Gee Zardoz Jim, you're 1 1/2 years YOUNGER than I am!! Please notice that I
did NOT make mention of anyone's ages in my earlier post.

All the birthday people go to the Depot Diner tonight for pork chop abracadbra
with onions and mixed vegetables in the crockpot, and there will be savory
herb stuffing to go along with it.

And of course, there will be chocolate cake with your choice of ice cream for
dessert.

Mookie

Did you do a survey on ages and birth dates? I thought that was out because of age discrimination laws!!

Anyway happy birthday guys. Just hope you are not too close to catching up to me.

Actually, my wife made me a triple-chocolate-fudge cake with dark chocolate frosting. That, with old-fashioned vanilla ice cream, well...let's just say that if there is heaven on earth.......

Thanks again CW and everyone. May your God look upon you with favor.

I also lucked out...had some chocolate cake from Portillo's (if you're not a Chicagoan, you have no idea what you're missing!), and continued the celebration today with some ice cream from Oberweis Dairy (ditto--only I think you have to be a suburbanite to know about this one!).

The trip to Rochelle didn't last very long, due to time constraints in getting out there and back, and the very strong wind and cool temperaures (the UP detector said it was 42 degrees). I didn't get to see the UP signals clear after the BNSF train, nor did I note the coaling tower at DeKalb, like I promised I would. Sorry--too busy driving and having a good time otherwise.
