Hello, friendly forum folks!
I wanted to let you know that Associate Editor Steve Sweeney and I will be your new forum moderators. We hope you enjoy your forum experience and please be kind to one another.
Thanks and have a great day!

Welcome aboard, and lotsa luck. We can get wild at times.

Short straws?
Really, though, welcome! As Norm points out, it can be interesting here at times.

Welcome aboard Angela and Steve! We look forward to hearing more from you, or NOT hearing from you, depending on how we behave!
I'll be good, I promise!
Too funny, you guys. No, not short straws. We volunteered. I just thought you should know who we are. There are a great deal of passionate people in this hobby, which is wonderful. That's why we're all here. We just have to remember there are real people on the other side of the keyboards, smartphones, laptops, etc.
Angela, glad to have you and Steve with us.

Well! Welcome, Steve and Ange !
Ange, you mentioned that you and Steve had " Volunteered" for this assignment....
Not "BEEN Volunteered" [ in the Military sense ] It will be nice to have some adults in the room.
There have been some pretty good moderators around here in the past, they deserve much praise, and a tip of the ole Kromer Cap for their commitments to a job that could be likened to herding cats.. Or standing on the unload side of a chain fail manure spreader.
We have had some who were not so, and probably wound up committed.Institutionalized
So as one caninbal said to the pilgrims, welcome to the banquet and your seat is in that pot!
I still do not wave!
Welcome. I hope you enjoy the forum as much as I have.
By now, you must know about the Chatterbox and the Trackside Lounge. We have fun in there, and what's said isn't always relevant to railroading or railfanning. We hope that both of you will feel free to impart your experience (and your experiences!) on any of the topics hereon.

I hope Kalmbach doesn't restrict the discussions too much. (Not that we didn't have the occasional ham-handed civilian on the job.) I note the purging -- not just the locking -- of the admittedly stray-dog thread on private vs. public.
Sure, it's Kalmbach's forum ... but if it were only for Kalmbach-approved speech, what's the point? Staff could just write memos to each other.
I'm sure that Kalmbach spared no expense in supplying you with black & white striped shirts and a loud whistle in this endeavor. Look forward to the next encounter with either at an AREMA or an ASLRRA meeting in the future.
Adults in charge.....Sounds good to me. Behavior, should be of interest to all of us. No nasty intent in our messages. Strive to always be civil.
Quentin
Of course, Carl.

Hi, dakotafred:
We are not here to edit or critique the forums. Please carry on as you normally would. I just thought it was nice to introduce myself and Steve.
Take care!

Hi, RRKen:
I am a former Illinoisan. So perhaps we have something in common.
Have a great day!
the sky is Carolina blue in cocoa, florida today?
Angela Pusztai-PasternakYou never met a moderator you liked? Now you have.
Folks who didn't get the byplay here: ... the line is a literary reference, also from W.C. Fields. (Ken's substituted 'moderator' for 'kid'.) It's a clever way to express some of the 'concern' some posters had over certain heavy-handed practices, about a year ago.
What a refreshing difference between then and the way Steve Sweeney has handled a couple of recent concerns!
I remember those [frustrating] times well.
