I just got as new Broadway Limited 2-10-4 w/ paragon 2 DC/Sound/DCC and use an NCE Powercab. When I set the Loco down the steam starts a little, like its heating up, then I have to power cycle my Power cab and sometimes the new Loco goes other times it sits. It seems like the Power cab is not talking to the DCC board, because its dead. Ya'll thin thats the case and I got a bad Loco new?
If this is an HO train question you should post it on the "Model Railroader" Forum. There's no-one here unwilling to help but you're likely to have better luck over there.
This Forum is concerned with 12" to the foot scale modeling, or "one-to-one" scale, as it were!
Call BLI and advise them of the problem. Mine was doing the same thing and they advised me to send it to them for warranty repairs. 8 week turn-around time.
First, make absolutely sure the wires between the tender and locomotive are firmly plugged in.
Then try to run the locomotive on address 3. With the PowerCab, don't enter a zero before the 3.
If it doesn't run on 3, try the locomotive road number as the address.
The PowerCab shorting out when you place the locomotive on the track could be because you're not getting all the wheels on the track at the same time, and some of them are shorting it out. Don't turn on track power until all the wheels are on the track.
If that doesn't work, call BLI.
