The 1960, C&EI track chart shows a large tie plant just south of the city of Marion, Illinois. I am modeling the C&EI in Southern Illinois and would like any information about the tie plant shown on the chart.

(1) A trip to Danville is in order. (C&EI Historical in the library and the shops)
(2) Start looking at old aerial photography (USGS or Archives sources), you might get lucky and find some lower level aerial Federal USACE, DOI, USDA or urban photography for flood control purposes there.
(assume you are talking the area around Thorn/Scaggs School / Section 25 T9S R2E 3PM ? The 1909 USGS 15 minute quad shows a spiderweb of CB&Q, shortlines and inter-urbans to the north of there...the 1966 7.5 minute quad also shows the track still there)
