BOC - especially that salt.  I've treated more than a few cases of CHF in my days as an EMT.

Early morning, so I can get down to the railroad on time.  ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Well, MC may wish we kept it west of the Wasatch. When I went out to get my paper this morning, the grass was covered with snow. Some of the grass is coming through now. Of course, at a mile high (most of Salt Lake City is about 4400 feet high), we can expect snow.

I opened the heat/cooling vents in my bedroom and kitchen-living-dining-room last night.

Murray - are you home for good yet?

Sir Mud - We got 2 inches of rain last nite and just about 12-15 miles south of us (Hickman, Panama, Bennett) - they had a tornado - took out one house, and a 2nd touchdown on Roca Rd - a little closer.

We just got the rain.  Really big squirrel wash!

Hey - Kansas is sending you all kinds of clouds!  You should really be in a fog by now!  And, like you, we are landlocked and were watching the seagulls fly over our house for about 30 min!  Now how does that happen?

44 and still mostly dark here.  I wanted to go train watching, but will wait another day.  Adjust to the shock of having to put on warmer clothes and a sweater.  Plus it is game day and the streets will be very crowded!

I am going to comment that lately it seems like "It's a Mad Mad..World" applies.  In all aspects.

Joe - we are playing tip over the SUV.  A lot more traffic accidents than before and someone always manages to play "turtle".  And now the "ka-bongs" involve more than 1-2 cars.  Now they are becoming multiple - as in "look up once in awhile"?

OKAY, who left the faucet in the sky open?!! after not much rain for the last several weeks, we suddenly get about 5 inches overnight. Overpasses/underpasses flooded, haven't heard of any railroad problems, but Louisville Fire & Rescue have had to rescue several people from their cars after the idiots drove their cars into water they thought they could get out of.(IDIOTS!)

My rain gauge here at the house only goes to 6 inches, and it is pushing that 6 inch mark.

[and to think that yesterday was pretty nice, sunglasses and shorts were the norm. Last night and today looks like I need to dig out my rain slicker, and heavier clothing with temps going down.] (no bicycle trip today.)

We got a little smattering of rain here in Alamo City...not the big storms that were rocking up to the north and east,

Its a cool 61 here now...I have the windows open here in the house.

Enjoy your Sunday!  Cowboy

Not the best of days....

Got down to almost 40 last nite and no heat in the house yet.  Air was on Friday, so no change over until this afternoon.  I spent most of the nite putting on more clothes and trying to find a heavier blanket in the dark!  2pm and still only 50 degrees.

Then finally got to go train watching and....no trains!  Had 2 remote yard engines and one freight from the east go into the yard.  So who is hiding the trains?  Grumpy

BOC - got your ears on?  R U doing ok?

Looks like all the weather is coming in east of Texas and heading straight for Tree's neighborhood with Mutt and Joe getting tinkled on, on the way.

Not me, SJ...I was wondering the same thing!

Pat and I were docents at the museum by the tracks this afternoon.  The two scheduled scoots came by in the first half-hour or so, but after that...no trains for nearly two hours!  I felt like I was back in the Land of No Trains.

Then, in the last hour we were there, we had three stack trains and the next set of scoots.  And, as we were packing up toward the end of that hour, a manifest went through (I was too busy to notice whether it had any good cars for me). Had to drown my sorrows with a Blizzard (Pat's idea; she had a sundae).

We're already into the 40s tonight.  Time to close the windows and pull up the quilts.  We shouldn't need the heat yet; I'm hoping that the new room doesn't take too much more energy.  We know it will be warmer than the room it replaced, as that one got all of its heat from the kitchen.

Sorry, Mutt, must have snagged a cloud going through on Saturday, and tore it open. Missed the worst of it, but had some good rain in Gary last night, nice driving in Wisconsin today. (Not to mention that Green Bay won and Chicago and Dallas lost....) Will probably have to turn the bunk heater on in the morning here in Black River Falls, but I can sleep with the windows cracked.....

Night all.......

Gee, but it's great to be back home.  (Thanks, S&G!)

Busy weekend on the railroad - large crowds.  Weather kinda held until Sunday about noon, at which time the skies opened up and made for some wet work.  Got pretty wet boarding the passengers for our 1230 run, and the runaround halfway through that trip finished the job.  At least I had a rain jacket on, or I'd have been soaked from head to toe.

The biggest challenge, though, was for our engineers, who had their hands full pulling heavy trains up significant hills on wet rails (with leaves occasionally "helping").

Had some nice conversations with the passengers, though (one trip had a group celebrating a young lady's 4th birthday), and may have recruited a new volunteer.

One fellow who rode with us managed to check off another item on his "bucket list."  He's got licenses to fly, drive big trucks, pilot large vessels, but had never been in the cab of a locomotive.  He enjoyed his ride.

Time to to become reacquainted with my water bed...

BOC hope your feeling better.

It is down to 57f this evening. Supposed to get to 46f overnight. I may have to get a blanket out. Please keep the white stuff north of the Ozarks. Was out on the porch til it got too chilly in shorts.
The Texas Eagle is running 90 minutes late and it is too cold to stay out there for that.
Tree a nice steaming bowl of soup was my cure all for the cold rainy season in San Francisco many years ago.

With apologies to Ed Ames ("My Cup Runneth Over....") My rain gauge runneth over...as I said in earlier post, it only goes to 6 inches, when the rain here quit yesterday the gauge was overflowing. I believe the official amount was 7.1 inches.

Randy, if that really was you that snagged a cloud on your way through this area; I believe that Several people are looking for you! Something about cancelling the St. James Art Show on Sun. In it's history, it's never been cancelled before.

Tree, hope you weren't libeled or slandered, and were able to keep the Customer Satisfied!

About 50 degrees here this morning, I had to put a lightweight jacket on to go out and get the paper. Guess I'm going to have to dig out the "warmer clothes"!

At 12noon it was 69 deg f. It is nice out with the windows open. It is amazing what a blast of cold autumn air does for those exceedingly unbearably hot summer days.

Have fun everyone.

Good Afternoon.

We had two big old thunderstorms come through last night. Left us more than 4" of rain and took out both my laptop AC adapter and my mixing board. Our surge protector protected itself nicely...according to Mr. Murphy. Not our Murphy...the other one.
