About 45 miles to Port Kent, NY on Lake Champlain. About 3 to 4 hours by bicycle.

I have my choice of two. #1 is in Davis Ca. about 25mi and #2 is in downtown Sacramento Ca. 40mi away. It all depends which way I'm going as to what station I use.

About 15 to the Metra Harvard, Il station or 22 to Fox Lake. The latter line goes into Chicago Union Station and my ticket to over 500 Amtrak destinations. (or so)

I'm about 28 miles from the nearest one, Spartanburg, SC, which has some rather bad hours for the north-south service on the Crescent. Second closest station that serves other trains than the Crescent would be Charlotte, NC which is a good 90 miles away.

There have been several topics on here talking about high speed and commuter rail and what should be done about them. But, how close does everyone live to an Amtrak or commuter rail station?
