Does anyone know if TRAINS ever did an article on the CNJ Blue Comet. If so, what issue was it in. thanks
I recall having seen a article on it - about 35 or 40 years ago.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!
I just subscribed to TRAINS. Is there a way to access past articles to see when the Blue comet was published?
I found an article in the CD collection that Trains sells: June 1956.
Picture on the cover and the article lead: "America's wonder train of 1929"
"The sad tale of the Blue Comet, which sired the all-coach streamliner yet couldn't make the grade itself, in spite of $1 roast beef dinners and nickle-plated cuspidors."

jerryl:
After thrashing around in a couple of Search Engines, with some sparse results. The following linked article seems to contain the most information.
BUT, Gasp! It is a Wikipedia site! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Comet
I see one of the other POsters has found your TRAINS mag issue info. So good luck with your search.
That Wikepedia article's spot-on. I didn't find any mistakes, so it's a good source for "Blue Comet" knowledge if you want to learn SOMETHING about it without majoring in it.

At the bottom of the web-page click on Resources/Magazine index, then click on Advanced search and Limit search to Trains. If you type "Blue Comet" into the search box you will find reference to the June '56 article, probably because "Blue Comet" was in the title. It's safer to use tag lines like "CNJ"
Edit: Some of the web-pages don't have Resources at the page bottom. More often there is a Resources button at the top of the page
