A beautiful winter snow scene at Göschenen, Switzerland. This is the highest point on the Swiss Federal Railway system outside of the Gotthard Summit Tunnel. This is at the top of the North Ramp. Snow has been heavy at the higher elevations in Switzerland, but very little has fallen below the 800 meter level (Göschenen 1106m). On Christmas Day a Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn narrow gauge passenger train derailed after hitting a snow drift above the ski resort of Andermatt. Passengers were evacuated using one of the resorts chair lifts down into Andermatt.
