It was announced in the November, 2011 issue of the El Paso & Southwestern Flyer, the newsletter of the Southwest Chapter, R&LHS, that David F. Myrick passed away at the age of 93.According to the 29 September - 6 October 2011 issue of the Montecito Journal ( www.scribd.com/doc/66843504/A-Montecito-Giant-Passes-On ), David passed away at the Casa Dorinda Retirement Residence, Montecito, California, at 10 am, Saturday, September 24, 2011.The article in the Flyer went on to say that "he was nearing completion of Railroads of Arizona, Vol. 7. Word is the volume will be published posthumously, title or publishing date are yet to be announced."
Mr. Myrick was one of the best known railroad historians and authors, ever. Some of his books are Railroads Of Arizona (6 volumes), Railroads of Nevada (2 volumes), Railroads Of Nevada & Eastern California (3 volumes), New Mexico's Railroads: A Historical Survey, Montecito and Santa Barbara (2 volumes), San Francisco's Telegraph Hill, Rails around the Bohemian Grove, Southern Pacific Water Lines: Marine, Bay & River Operations of the Southern Pacific System, and Life and Times of the Central Pacific Railroad. Most are long out of print.

Glad to hear about vol 7 getting published posthumously - Though I would be much happier if Myrick was still alive to see it published. I had been lookinf forward to his completion of the RR's or Arizona series since I picked up vol 1 in late 1977 or early 1978.
Myrick did a fine job on his books.
