Dubuque Derailment
Posted by Victrola1 on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 8:15 AM

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Several roads are closed this morning following a train derailment in downtown Dubuque. Railroad officials say six cars, traveling from Dubuque to Illinois, derailed at around midnight Wednesday.

The cars were carrying ethanol, which is highly flammable. However, no leaks have been found. Patrick Waldron of Canadian National says no one was injured, and no one was evacuated.

According to the newsreader on the Radio Dubuque stations, we have a new railroad in town.  All Thursday morning he reported (and posted to all the station's website news pages) that this was a "Canadian Northern" train.

Personally, I was surpised that it wasn't IC&E.  Their motto on this subdivision for a lot of years seemed to be "We derail more trains before 9AM than most railroads do all day".
