Wonder why all that metal piled on the track didn't shunt the signal circuit before the train got there ?

What result if they'd tried that stunt in front of a US Class I freight train at track speed ?  Whistling

I'm surprised about the train robbery in France.  I figured a train robbery's more likely to happen in Mexico with all it's crime and drug cartel activity.
