"Locomotive Overhaul" New, 5/26/2011, Technology, Science An Illinois train yard is not the final resting place for a worn-out, 50-year-old locomotive, as workers dismantle it and rebuild it from the frame up; a typical rebuild takes eight weeks and produces a machine that compares favorably with a new one.

Did any one else catch the Masterpiece Theater special on the Orient Express? It followed actor David Suchet, who of course plays Agatha Christie's sleuth Hercule Poirot, an a trip from London to Prague. It was really quite interesting.
About a half-hour's worth in the middle of the other night. Better than most - esp. the part where he got to run the locomotive - Swiss Rail through the Alps ? That engineer was a real friendly guy. BUt a little too much on the fine dining and dress-up to suit my tastes, although some of the passengers were interesting . . .
Good so far.
Now I'm just sitting here crossing my fingers that we don't lose power in these storms...

Show was OK, but full of the hyperbole and speeded-up second-long segments that one has come to expect from such things. I can only hope that the guy who invented that has it applied to his lunch hours!

Like we did. It didn't go out. It just winked enough to reboot my sat receiver about 5 minutes into the show.
